It is in everyone’s interests to protect our shared environment.

Salmon farmers are committed to their local communities and maintaining a healthy habitat for the fish in our care.

That is why our sector works hard to prevent any marine debris from our farms, which on very rare occasions can be caused by instances of extreme weather.

Most marine debris does not come from salmon farms. It comes from towns and cities or from other marine industries – often operating in other countries and continents, with the materials brought here by winds and tides over many months or years.

And our member companies are proactively helping to care for their local environment with regular beach clean-ups and other initiatives.

But on the rare occasion when you spot any debris on the shoreline that has come from a salmon farm operating in the north-west Highlands, Argyll & Bute, the Western Isles, Orkney or Shetland, please fill out the form below so that we can investigate and seek to resolve the issue.

We will need:

  • Your contact details (name, email)
  • The what3words location of the item
  • At least one image of the item

We may share your contact details with relevant Salmon Scotland members so that they can update you.

Please describe the Debris (materials, size, etc.). E.g. "20m PVC pipe or feed pipe."
