With 500 employees and 36 vessels across 5 countires, Sølvetrans wellboats are involved all the way from transferring smolt to the sea, to transporting salmon for processing. Together with their suppliers, they continuously develop technologies to optimize fish welfare and biosecurity, as well as minimizing fuel consumption and GHG emissions.
In 2001, they developed the unique closed valve technology. Closed valve transport minimizes risks of spreading contagious diseases, which allows for the highest fish welfare, and provides cost-effective transport and handling of live fish.
With the majority of the Sølvtrans fleet being built after 2013, they have one of the youngest, most flexible, and modern fleets in the sector.
