Mowi Scotland's farm technician Clara McGhee received one of the two 'Most Promising New Entrant' awards. Thanks to her work and her writing on one of the most challenging farm sites, Mrs McGhee has inspired her colleagues and the wider industry.
Scottish Sea Farms received the 'Diversity' award by reporting increasing numbers of women in senior roles in the business.
The company was also part of a collaborative project between Mowi, BioMar, the University of Stirling and SAIC which won the 'Applied Research Breakthrough' category. The initiative was the first to successfully close the breeding cycle for captive ballan wrasse, a fish increasingly used to pick sea lice off farmed salmon.
A panel of six judges oversaw seven of the categories.
The People's Choice award, the only one to be decided by an open vote, was given to Richard Darbyshire, Scottish Sea Farms regional production manager for its Orkney operation. Mr Darbyshire was awarded for playing a key role in transforming the performance of the sites the company took over in 2008, as well as adding new ones and investing heavily in the local community.
They competed against global competition, with other nominees coming from all over the world, including the United States, Nigeria, Panama, Norway and Ghana.
A panel of six judges oversaw seven of the categories.
