A Scottish salmon and smoked haddock pie has triumphed in the Fish Pie category at this year's hotly contested British Pie Awards.

The world-renowned awards take place annually in the historic English market town of Melton Mowbray, the spiritual home of the pork pie.

Nice Pie's award winning entry was praised by the judges for its "attention to detail, lustrous glaze, delicate decoration and near perfect taste of the sea".

Established in 2013 by Katherine Walmsley and championed by celebrity chef and TV presenter Jamie Oliver, Nice Pie attribute their success to the sourcing of the highest quality ingredients.

Receiving their trophy at The British Pie Awards the Nice Pie team declared "they were delighted with their win".

Nearly 900 pies were entered into this year's event, all of which have to be commercially available to the public.
