Mr Scott, the Chief Executive of the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation (SSPO), will take up the role at the next meeting of the AILG, in the Spring.
His appointment follows the decision of Jim Gallagher, Managing Director of Scottish Sea Farms, to stand down as Co-Chair in order to participate more fully in the strategic discussions and the different projects arising from those. Mr Gallagher will remain on the group.
The other Co-Chair of the AILG, Stewart Graham, Managing Director of the Gael Force Group, will continue in his role.
Mr Scott said: "I am delighted to take on the responsibilities of Co-Chair and I wish to thank Jim for his dedication and contribution to the AILG over the course of his chairmanship. I thoroughly look forward to working closer with Stewart to further our sector's interests as the UK's No 1 food export while our economy emerges from the Covid-19 pandemic."
Stewart Graham said, "It has been an honour for me to have worked with Jim in the Co-Chair role of the AILG over the past 4 years. Drawing on his considerable industry and business knowledge and experience has been of tremendous benefit both to me in the role and the wider sector too."
